Continuing the hazy, laid-back indie-pop sound the Grammy and BRIT-nominated artist embraced on his February single Homewrecker, Potential arrives with a cinematic video directed by Gus Black, which shows Sombr singing the track while ballerinas dance around him.
The emotive song reflects on a lost relationship and was written by the 20-year-old superstar, who previewed it at Coachella last weekend, where he was joined on stage by the Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan for a performance of the band's songs Speed and 1979. He's due back at Coachella tomorrow (April 18) for weekend two. Introducing the new song with a post on Instagram, he wrote:
"My new single Potential is out now with a music video that could potentially be my best one yet. Love you so very much. I’m so proud of this."
It follows his appearance at weekend one of Coachella, and the announcement of his You Are The Reason Tour, which will see him head across North America this summer and fall. Along the way, he’ll be joined by special guests Interpol, The Last Dinner Party, Tom Odell, Dove Cameron, Balu Brigada, King Princess, The Hellp and Hannah Jadagu on select dates, with tickets for all shows going on general sale at 10am local time today (April 17).
