John Lydon Rants At Bandmates On Stage

Former Sex Pistol John Lydon left fans confused at Benicassim festival last weekend, after bandmates of his current outfit, Public Image Ltd, walked offstage having endured an onstage verbal attack from the volatile frontman.

Contactmusic reports that the Spanish crowd were stunned when Lydon launched into the attack following the final song of Public Image Ltd’s Benicassim set. Not content with finishing last song ‘Religion’ quietly, the short-tempered frontman repeatedly told his band to “keep on f**king playing."

Eventually playing out the final notes of the song, the band walked straight off the stage leaving Lydon on his own, looking a bit silly. Never one to keep quiet, the punk legend then ranted, “Public Image runaway Ltd. It looks like I'm all alone, as per f**king usual."

Controversy seems to be following Public Image Ltd at the moment, the band have been recently criticised over their decision to play a show in Israel, despite the country’s appalling Palestinian policies.

Beicassim Festival takes place in Spain on the coast near Valencia. This year’s crowds were treated to storming sets from the likes of Gorillaz and Dizzee Rascal at the four-day bash, which was last year marred by a fire.
