On the verge of releasing his new ‘Praise and Blame’ album later this month, Tom Jones now looks set to collaborate with Las Vegas superstars The Killers.
The Welsh singer has been well-known for his collaboration work in the past. Back in 1999 the singer released ‘Reload’ which was a covers album featuring guest appearances from a huge cast of popular artists, Van Morrison, Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones and Robbie Williams to name a few.
It could be said that Tom Jones gets bored easily perhaps? Having reinvented himself so many times over the years, the singer has certainly belted out songs in a range of musical styles throughout his impressive career. His forthcoming new album is to be another change in direction, in the style of a stripped-down record featuring a lot of spiritual music. Critics have recently compared it to the ‘American Recordings’ which were brought to the world by country legend Johnny Cash.
Performing at last weekend’s Latitude Festival, Tom Jones revealed that after speaking to The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, plans have now been drawn up for a collaboration with the Las Vegas four-piece.
Tom Jones explained. "He said he admired what I'd done in my career. There’s a connection there because he's from Las Vegas, and of course I've performed there so many times over the years."
At the moment, plans are in the very early stages and a release date has not been set. Talking about the collaboration, Jones continued. "The material has to be right. That's always been my main concern, with whichever people I've worked with."
‘Praise And Blame’ is set for release next week on July 26th.
