London Hip-hop star turned soul sensation Plan B (a.k.a. Ben Drew) has been nominated for eleven UK Music Video Awards this week. The rapper received the most nominations in a list which sees pop artists Cheryl Cole, Florence and the Machine, Laura Marling, Jay-Z, Hot Chip and Lady Gaga all given credit for their creative efforts.
‘Prayin’’ and ‘Stay Too Long’, two videos from Plan B’s hugely successful album, ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’ have each been been put up for five nominations, making them the most-nominated videos in the MVA's three year history. Both videos were directed by Daniel Wolfe.
Founded in 2007, the MVAs works to celebrate and honour the best of British and international creative talent. The awards praise almost every stage in the music video sector, and it is one of the few modern celebrations which are dedicated to the hard-working people behind the lens rather than primarily the artists themselves.
The UK Music Video Awards will be held at the ODEON West End in Leicester Square, London this evening (October 12th).
Plan B (and his associated creative team) has been nominated for the following awards:
Best Editing in a video (two nominations)
Best Styling in a video (two nominations)
Best Cinematography in a video in association with Panalux (two nominations)
Best Pop Video in association with Music Week
Best Art Direction in a video
Best Urban Video in association with Aimimage
Best Telecine in a video
Best Director in association with Promo News (nomination for Daniel Wolfe)
Plan B is currently trying his own hand at directing as he begins work on a film version of 'The Defamation Of Strickland Banks'.
