Reunited LA rockers Mr Big are to release their seventh album ‘What If’ on 24th January 2011. The album will be their first offering since 2001’s ‘Actual Size’, which was released a year before the band broke up following a farewell tour. ‘What If’ is produced by Kevin Shirley, who has previously worked on albums by Silverchair, Aerosmith, Black Crowes and Iron Maiden.
Mr Big originally reformed last year for a comeback tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their eponymous debut album. The tour took place in Japan, where the band had received the majority of their previous success. It was followed by a live album entitled ‘Back to Budokan’.
‘What If’ will feature all four original members of Mr Big, including guitarist Paul Gilbert, who was replaced by former Poison guitarist Richie Kotzen in 1997. Kotzen is now a successful solo artist and has just completed a short tour of the UK earlier this month.
Mr Big had a string of hits during the ‘90s such as the single ‘To Be With You’, which was taken from their second album ‘Lean Into It’ in 1991. The song reached Number 3 in the UK chart and has since been covered by a number of other groups, including Westlife.
Mr Big are expected to tour following the release of ‘What If’.
