Foo Fighters have been confirmed as the latest act to be playing at this year’s Isle of Wight festival. The American rockers were revealed yesterday as the third major act to be included in what already looks like an impressive line-up.
Dave Grohl and his cohorts will headline the festival on Saturday June 11th, performing on the same night as the reformed Pulp are set to play on the main stage.
John Giddings, a promoter for the festival, showed no hesitation in expressing his delight at the announcement: "What band is more fitting to bring back for our tenth birthday than the Foos? They gave it their all in 2006 and have only become bigger and better since".
The band are currently in the process of recording their untitled seventh studio album, and are expected to showcase a couple of new songs from their pending release when they arrive in the UK. The festival will be a good warm up for the group, who have also announced two mammoth arena dates in Milton Keynes next July. Both shows, which feature support from the likes of Biffy Clyro, Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab For Cutie, sold out in just one day.
The Festival will be celebrating a decade since it's revival next year, so fans can expect some other big names to be announced in the full line-up. The final line-up announcement will come tomorrow (November 18th), when Sunday's headline act will be announced.
Tickets for Isle of Wight Festival 2011 go on sale at 9am on Friday 19th November, and are expected to cost around £175 for a full adult festival and camping permit.
