Successful Live Comeback For Amy Winehouse

Two years since her last full live performance, Amy Winehouse proved that she still has the talent last weekend at the Summer Soul festival in Florianopolis, Brazil.

After a 2 ½ year exile from the music scene and more than a few controversial moments in the tabloids, reports in late 2010 confirmed the 27-year-old was working on a new album and planning to get back on tour in 2011. Reports also suggested she had shaken some of the personal issues that had dogged her live performances in the past and that this would be a return to the early success she achieved.

Part of a 5-date schedule across Brazil, the festival will reportedly earn the singer £5 million, this coming after she was rumoured to have earned £1 million for a private two hour set in December for a Russian businessman in Moscow.

The set at the festival included many of the hits that made her a household name such as ‘Back To Black’ while she also mixed in a handful of covers including her take on Green Day’s ‘Boulevard Of Broken Dreams’. Unfortunately there was no sign of any of the new material so what to expect from the new album is still being kept under wraps.

When discussing the new album prior to Christmas, Winehouse did reveal she was looking to go back towards the style that had such success on her 2006 smash ‘Back To Black’ which netted her a record equalling five Grammy Awards. "There’s a lot of jukebox stuff and the songs that are… just jukebox, really," she said.
