Canadian Indie-rock band Arcade Fire have responded to their NME Award Best Album nomination – by declaring themselves not really bothered by the accolade.
Front man Win Butler has said that the band doesn’t determine themselves on how many awards they win, but how they perform live.
“We are really happy when we get nominated, but we definitely don't get any of our self worth as a band from awards. The idea that you need to talk about how great you are in order to be great is a little foreign to me.”
"I think our success as a band has always been tied to our live show. The music we make has always been made with an audience in mind; we really need that conversation with our audience to make music in the first place."
The band are nominated for four gongs at the Award Ceremony, held on February 26th in London – including Best Live Band, Best Video, and Best International Band. They are up against some huge bands, including The Kings of Leon, My Chemical Romance and Muse.
