U2 have been recording a new album for a while, but with no sign of a release date, fans had no idea when to expect the LP – until Amazon.de, the German branch of Amazon.com, set U2’s latest studio album for a May 27th release.
A spokesperson for the Irish rock band said "As has been widely reported U2 are in the studio working on a new record but no release date has been set." The band’s manager also admitted in October last year that he expected a new album to go out in early 2011.
Legendary front-man Bono spoke briefly about a new CD being recorded and finished back in 2009, following the release of the band’s last recording ‘No Line on the Horizon’. The album was apparently titled ‘Songs of Ascent’, but it is currently unknown whether this album is the album that will be released in the near future.
U2 are enjoying a good start to the year, with an album release planned, a US tour starting soon and a rumoured headline slow at this year’s Glastonbury festival. Keep an eye out on Stereoboard for further info on the release of the album and any tour dates the band announce.
