Kanye West and Jay-Z Take Over Hotel To Finish ‘Watch The Throne’

Friday, 11 February 2011 Written by James Conlon

Kanye West and Jay-Z have reportedly taken over an entire floor of New York's Mercer Hotel to continue work on their upcoming joint album.

According to reports from the New York Post, the pair have taken over an entire floor at the large hotel and have commenced recording after moving their equipment into the rented space.

A source said: "They took over at least one whole floor and moved in their equipment, which may have annoyed some of the guests.”

The pair released their first track from the album, ‘H.A.M.’ in early January, a song which received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. You can listen to the song below.

Describing his recent work with Jay-Z, Kanye West told the paper: "I've seen him from the beginning to where he is now... how he's growing as a producer and as an artist, for me, on another level, it's enjoyable."

Both rappers have previously stated that the joint record would be released this March. Kanye West is clearly keeping himself busy: as well as ‘Watch The Throne’, the rapper has claimed production credits on Justin Bieber’s upcoming album and already started plans for the follow-up to his critically-acclaimed 2010 release, ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’.
