The critically-acclaimed Florence and the Machine have confirmed that they are working on the follow-up to their hugely-successful debut, ‘Lungs’. Guitarist Rob Ackroyd has stated that the band have already written most of their sophomore album and are set to enter the studio in the next few weeks.
Speaking to Gibson magazine, he said: "Work on the second album has begun with producer Paul Epworth and there is talk of booking out Abbey Road [studios] for a month in April or May to record - which is nice."
Ackroyd went on to discuss the band’s differing musical tastes, saying: "Florence's and my taste in music often overlap in harmonious fashion; we're both big fans of hip-hop and American indie. But she's also a big fan of unadulterated pop music, which cuts through me like a knife. In terms of our own music though, we are perfectly matched,"
Paul Epworth is an award-winning producer who has worked on several successful albums including Bloc Party’s ‘Silent Alarm’, Adele’s ‘21’, Plan B’s ‘The Defamation of Strickland Banks’ and Cee Lo Green’s ‘The Lady Killer’.
Meanwhile, Florence and the Machine are set to support U2 on their US tour this summer.
