Liam Gallagher’s new rock project Beady Eye have announced that they will not be performing Oasis songs at any gigs, even though the band consists entirely of ex Oasis members.
"This ain't a project we're in it for the long run. We're not going to stop. People seem to be liking it. There's always going to be a bit of negativity - that's life - but it seems there's a lot of good will around." revealed Gallagher, the front man of the new band.
It’s been just 18 months since Oasis decided to split, because Liam had too many fights with his brother. But now the lads return with a new sound that they’re putting to the test.
Gallagher was originally talking about the amount of appreciation that Beady Eye were receiving in an interview, when he was asked what sort of music they’d be playing live. Liam responded “All Beady Eye music. We're going to throw in a couple of B-sides. We've got a cover of a tune by a band called World of Twist, they're from Manchester. No Oasis songs.”
He was then asked how the fans would react, with Liam continuing “To be quite honest, it's none of our business how they react. They should know by now that we're not fucking dickheads and we're not un-cool. It would be absolutely ridiculous to play Oasis songs and then Beady Eye songs. It would be schizophrenic. Or phrenic. Or phonic. They won't want to hear Oasis songs by the time we finish with them.
His former Oasis and current Beady Eye band-mate Andy Bell also agreed, saying “It just feels wrong. This is not Oasis. We love Oasis, we love what Oasis was, but it would be wrong to take those songs and play them as Beady Eye, because Beady Eye is not Oasis.”
Beady Eye have a few dates across the country lined up in April – you can search for tickets through Stereoboard.
