Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen has told of an incredible situation he had at a gig, which ended with him performing surgery on a German fan after one of his band’s shows in Germany. Talk about being multi-talented...
When being interviewed, Troy began talking of a gig he’d had a long time ago in Germany, continuing "Do you wanna hear something fucked up? Of course you do. There was one time when we performed an appendectomy, backstage in Munich. We forgot the anaesthesia. I do know how to perform these operations, but I'd had too much to drink that day. But she's okay."
An Appendectomy is a medical procedure in which the appendix is surgically removed from a persons body, and the last time I checked, none of the Queens of the Stone Age had any medical training or qualifications – leaving it no surprise that Troy later admitted "It's actually a legal matter ... It's a medical slash legal matter and I can't say much more than that.".
Whether the guitar player is telling the absolute truth or is talking rubbish is unknown, but I’m sure you can all draw your own conclusion on that decision.
