Sweet Jane Prepare For SXSW

Sweet Jane are a band currently enjoying glowing plaudits from around the world for their debut album 'Sugar For My Soul', released in Ireland in 2010, which saw them secure the Myspace Artist of the Week slot. They also featured in Music Week’s recent ‘Best of Irish’ compilation, and the album has scored top 3 positions in album of the year lists in Ireland, and on some UK blogs.

Recently The Irish Times, while giving them ‘gig of the week’,  called them a ‘remarkably good band who transcend their influences by being bang on the money.  The primary case in point is their recently released debut album 'Sugar For My Soul' which manages to blend loaded psych rock and a sweet-natured dream-pop disposition with a clear affinity for the rockier, sludgier end of Americana.’

Having spent the two years since their formation honing their live set, Sweet Jane made their major festival debut with a hugely impressive show at Oxegen this year. They have been selected to play SXSW this March.

Sweet Jane are vocalist Lydia des Dolles, Danda Paxton guitar/vocals, Ruairi Paxton bass, and Donogh O'Brien on drums. They have been together for the past two years and released their debut album, 'Sugar for My Soul', in Ireland  in 2010.  They have toured with several bands such as Glasvegas and have been invited to play at Alan McGee’s Death Disco in London, a number of times.

Their debut UK single 'Close Your Eyes' is already on a number of new music playlists including Q Radio, Overflow Radio, EKR Radio and many more. The band are featured in the next issue of Artrocker magazine and appear at SXSW in March at various showcase gigs from March 16 - 19th.
