Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson has revealed that the band are currently writing material for a follow-up to 2009 album 'Endgame'.
Talking to UGO.com about the direction of the music on the forthcoming new album, Ellefson commented, “We are working on it now so it’s a bit early to encapsulate what the final will ultimately sound like. I think we know the punch and impact we want it to have but also not be afraid to let new ideas develop, too. Just know it will be heavy, hooky, and have the trademarks you’d come to expect from us.”
Currently untitled and without a release date, Ellefson went on to state that Megadeth will not let deadline hassle their recording sessions. “I know the business side want to lock in schedules for release but sometimes you can’t contain a creative process AND a schedule. For us, the scheduling is second to making a great record. It will be done when it’s done.”
In other news, which surely you must know about by now, Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax are set to headline this summer's UK Sonisphere festival. The bands - dubbed the Big Four - will top the bill on the opening day of the event, which runs from July 8th-10th at Knebworth House.
The show will mark the first time all four bands have performed together on stage in the UK.
