Austalian politician Anna Bligh has expressed her gratitude towards the Foo Fighters for their fundraising concert after the country was hit by flooding recently. Bligh described the US rockers as “iconic”, claiming that their assistance in the crisis was a “gift” to the country.
Foo Fighters recently performed at a charity concert in Brisbane, playing to around 10,000 fans at a special alcohol-free benefit event. Anna Bligh claimed that the band had a lengthy discussion with her before the event, discussing what they could do for the hard-hit country.
She told the AAP: "[Dave Grohl] said, 'This is what I know how to do. I don't know how to fix people's roofs, but I know how to make music and make money.' They wanted to speak about how many people were out of their homes...they are genuinely interested. They were wanting to help. Foo Fighters care about people who need help.”
Bligh continued: "They are an iconic international rock band and them coming here to raise money for us is a gift. They understand I have some big responsibilities and they were fine. They sold out in 15 minutes and they have some big young fans here, they don't need an old lady like me rocking in the front row."
According to the politician, the Premier Disaster Relief Fund has already raised more than $250 million to benefit victims of the recent Australian flooding.
