Aerosmith To Release Ballads Album

While Aerosmith fans still wait for an announcement on new material and future tours, the band are ready to release an album compiling the best of their softer moments.

‘Tough Love: Best Of The Ballads’ will be released in the US on 10th May according to Blabbermouth, pulling together some of the gentler moments of the rock n roll hall of famers four decade long career.

Frustrations have built among fans during the past 12 months after the completion of a World tour saw Steven Tyler take a spot among the judges on American Idol. In an interview with The Boston Herald bassist Tom Hamilton revealed his frustrations saying he’s ‘bursting at the seams’ to get back into the studio.

“Steven has been really good at selling the idea among his bandmates that the band is No. 1 and this is where his heart is,” Hamilton said “I look forward to him demonstrating that.”

He also revealed that an album could be completed quickly once they get into a studio. “Everybody’s head is into it, and once Steven is done with his TV gig, we get to work and damned if we don’t have a finished record by the end of September.”

Promising news for sure, although the various outside commitments (which also include Joe Perry’s solo project) may mean the release date for an album could be another year away with the label unlikely to release new material without a tour to promote it.

As for ‘Tough Love’ there are a few strange choices for the tracklisting. Despite being a controversial track it’s a huge surprise that arguably their biggest ever ballad ‘Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing’ isn’t included while a few other tracks which are included don’t strike you as particularly ‘ballady’.

One website described this announcement as ‘the laziest Aerosmith compilation in history’, that may be but it’s all we’ve got until something new drops later in the year.

Tough Love: Best Of The Ballads tracklisting:

01. Angel
02. Amazing

07. Crazy
08. Deuces Are Wild
