Two Men Arrested Over Murder Of DJ Megatron

Two New York City men have been arrested in relation to the shooting of DJ Megatron.

According to a New York Police announcement, 21-year-old William Williams and 20-year-old Richard Cromwell were arrested Wednesday (April 6th), and will be charged for murder, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.

As previously reported by Stereoboard, the Disc Jockey and TV personality (real name Corey McGriff) was shot dead on the morning of March 27th as he walked from his Staten Island apartment to a local shop.

Police have given mixed reports on the attackers’ intent: initial reports indicated that McGriff was found with his wallet and phone still on his person, so robbery was put out of the equation. However, police have now asserted that they believe the incident occurred as a case of robbery which went awry.

Megatron was best known for his work on BET’s radio show 106 & Park. He was known for breaking new hip-hop talent into the mainstream, picking up on their abilities early on in their professional careers. Nicki Minaj is an example of one artist who has DJ Megatron to thank for her current success. Speaking on Twitter directly after the incident, she said: "Rest In Peace DJ Megatron. My thoughts are with your family and friends @ hot 97.
