Matt Schofield Announces UK Shows, New Album Details & Tickets

Now firmly established as the freshest and most exciting blues guitarist to have emerged from the UK for many years, Matt Schofield plays Robin2, Bilston on May 4th to promote his latest CD, which releases the same week.

Recorded in New Orleans with legendary producer John Porter (BB King, Buddy Guy, Santana, Keb Mo’), the new album follows a DVD release last year which saw Schofield join such famous names as Buddy Guy, Eric Johnson and Joe Bonamassa, who have DVDs produced by the world's largest music print publisher, the US-based Hal Leonard organisation. Schofield is one of the few Brits ever to have appeared on the Hal Leonard imprint. He was also crowned Blues Guitarist and Album of the year in the 2010 British Blues Awards.

In his relatively short career (he is just 32), Schofield’s prowess as a blues guitarist has taken his band to 22 countries and brought him high praise in the Penguin Book of Blues Recordings as one of only two living British artists in recording history to gain a maximum four-star rating. Last year he completed a debut nine week tour of North America, which took him the length the western seaboard, to Arizona and Texas, through the north east, the major Canadian Festivals, and through the northern states of the US culminating with a TV-filmed perfromance at the Telluride Blues festival. He embarks on another marathon US tour starting in June this year.

Schofield‘s powerful mix of Blues, rock and New Orleans funk is unlike anything else on the block. His band comprises long-term compatriot Jonny Henderson (Hammond organ & left-hand bass) and recent recruit Kevin Hayes on drums (who has a long list recording credits including Johh Lee Hooker, BB King, Albert Collins, Van Morrison and Robert Cray, with whom he co-wrote several of Cray’s biggest hits).

May 4th - Robin 2, Bilston
May 5th - Band on the Wall, Manchester
May 6th - Fibbers, York
May 8th - Glee Club, Cardiff (first time in Cardiff)
