The Violet May Announce New Single, Live Dates & Tickets

Sheffield-based rock quintet The Violet May have announced details of their new single ‘TV’, which is due for release on 23rd May and is the first track to be taken from their forthcoming debut EP – out 27th June. The Violet May will also be playing a number of live dates in July and August, including a Club NME show at London’s KOKO venue on 29th July. See below for other dates and tickets. They will also be performing at the Relentless Boardmasters festival in Newquay on 14th August.
The Violet May formed in Sheffield in 2009 and their music has since caught the attention of people such as Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens and Alan McGee. Vocalist Chris McClure is probably best-known for being the face on the cover of Arctic Monkey’s ‘Whatever You Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’, as well as the brother of Reverend and the Makers’ Jon McClure. The band have recently been touring Germany with The Chapman Family and previously recorded a video for their song ‘Bright or Better’ with former Jesus and Mary Chain bassist Douglas Hart.
Speaking about The Violet May’s music, Chris McClure said: “We’d lost faith in British guitar music. There was twee indie band epidemic. We were all fed up and that brought us together.”
