The Kooks Confirm Release Date of New Album ‘Junk of the Heart’

Saturday, 04 June 2011 Written by Rob Sleigh

Indie rockers The Kooks have revealed details of their forthcoming third album ‘Junk of the Heart’, which is due for release on 12th September through Virgin Records. The Brighton quartet, whose last album ‘Konk’ came out in 2008, are to precede the album’s release with a new single, also entitled ‘Junk of the Heart’, on 28th August. The band recently completed a string of intimate dates in the UK, including a performance at Liverpool Sound City, and are expected to announce a full tour soon. Check back with Stereoboard for further announcements.

Speaking about the new album, frontman Luke Pritchard said: “It’s upbeat - an album to play in the sun. What we really wanted to do was build a proper, full album. Something you can listen to from front to back. We’re an album band and this is a journey you come on with us.”

‘Junk of the Heart’ is produced by Tony Hoffer, who worked with The Kooks on their previous two albums. Recently, he has also worked on the forthcoming solo album from Jon Fratelli called ‘Psycho Jukebox’.
