Simon Cowell To Secure Cheryl Cole US ‘X Factor’ Return?

Monday, 06 June 2011 Written by James Conlon

Simon Cowell is attempting to secure Cheryl Cole’s return to her role as judge on the US series of ‘The X Factor’, according to reports. The Geordie singer was sacked from the show at the beginning of last week after growing concerns that the US audience would be unable to understand her accent.

However, tabloid spin artist Max Clifford has told BBC News that talks are continuing “at the highest level” between Cowell and executives at Fox TV, where the British music veteran is said to be attempting to convince the network to authorise Cole’s return to the show.

Clifford Said: "Simon's position is clear - he wants her to be on the show if that's possible. The reason Simon hasn't said anything is because he has been working to try and make sure she is on the show."

He continued: "But obviously there's other important people involved in this decision in America and they've all got to be happy.”

Cole’s judge’s position as is currently being filled by ex-Pussycat Dolls signer Nicole Scherzinger, who was originally cast as presenter on the televised singing competition. Fans have been vocal in their defence of Cole, however some are already questioning the firing as an elaborate publicity stunt (with Cole’s backing) instigated by ‘X Factor’ producers.

The show is set to be broadcast in America starting this August.
