Lil Wayne Delays Release Of ‘Tha Carter IV’ Once Again

Monday, 06 June 2011 Written by James Conlon

Lil Wayne's upcoming album 'Tha Carter IV' has been delayed for the second time this year. Sources close to the rapper have cited his ‘perfectionist’ instincts as the reason for delaying the release of the record once more: the LP is now scheduled for an August release date.

The album has been the topic of speculation for over a year now: despite being originally slated for release on May 16th, Lil Wayne initially delayed the album’s release until this month. However, the rapper has now delayed release once again, chalking in an expected date of August 29th.

The rapper has been quiet about the recent delay, choosing not to offer a personal statement about the decision to his fanbase. However, MTV News managed to gain an explanation from Mack Maine, president of Lil Wayne’s label Young Money.

Speaking about the delay, Maine said that Wayne’s “perfectionist” streak was to blame. He said: "He's still perfecting a few things, he's a perfectionist... changing a few lines."

Wayne’s most recent release came in the form of his 2010 LP ‘I Am Not A Human Being’, an album which received mixed reviews both from critics and the rapper’s dedicated fanbase. The follow-up record is said to feature contributions from other Cash Money Records artists including Nicki Minaj and Drake.
