Californian folk artist Sea of Bees – aka solo musician Julie Baenziger - is to release her new single ‘Gnomes’ on 15th August. The single is the latest track to be taken from her debut album ‘Songs for the Ravens’, which was released earlier this year. ‘Gnomes’ is accompanied on the single by Sea of Bees’ take on both U2’s ‘With or Without You’ and The Blue Oyster Cult classic ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’. The latter track is a collaboration with solo artist and The Cardinals guitarist Neal Casal. Sea of Bees will be making appearances at a number of summer festivals including next week’s Glastonbury, as well as Truck Festival and Port Elliot Festival in July. She has also just announced some new UK tour dates – see below for dates and tickets.
Sea of Bees released her debut album ‘Songs for the Ravens’ in February this year and has already spent much of the first half of 2011 touring the UK in support of the album. She recently completed tours supporting the Smoke Fairies and John Grant, but is now preparing to begin her own headlining shows next month. Sea of Bees will be touring the UK for the duration of July, ending with a date at London’s XOYO on Tuesday 26th.
