Jimmy Eat World Announce Leicester Date & Tickets

US alt-rockers Jimmy Eat World have announced a date at Leicester 02 Academy on Tuesday 23rd August, a few days ahead of their appearances at the Reading and Leeds festivals. The show will follow this month’s Jimmy Eat World tour dates in Cardiff and London – see below for dates and tickets. In September last year, the quartet released their most recent album ‘Invented’, the seventh Jimmy Eat World album to date. The band will be performing on the Main Stage at Reading Festival on Saturday 27th August before travelling up to Leeds the following day for the event’s sister festival.
Jimmy Eat World were formed in Mesa, Arizona in 1993 and released their eponymous debut the following year. However, it was their fourth album ‘Bleed American’, released in 2001, that first brought the band worldwide prominence and led the way for the early 21st Century emo revival. ‘Bleed American’ was renamed ‘Jimmy Eat World’ following the terrorist attacks of 11th September later that year and, similarly, the album’s title track and lead single was altered to ‘Salt Sweat Sugar’.
This week’s shows in Cardiff and London mark the second time that Jimmy Eat World have visited the UK since the release of ‘Invented’, following a tour in November 2010. Tickets for the new date in Leicester are due to go onsale on Monday 20th June at 9am.
