Sheffield-based emo rock outfit Bring Me the Horizon have announced that they will take a hiatus from live shows following their string of dates alongside Machine Head and their overseas shows.
The band will be playing with metal heroes Machine Head for four UK dates in December, which will see the two alongside Devil Driver and the Darkest Hour for shows in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.
Frontman Oli Sykes revealed the band’s future plans.
“These will be our last dates on this touring cycle on this side of the Atlantic. After that and we're done overseas we'll have some time off and start writing the next record.”
“I can't imagine us headlining arenas, at this point in time it's just not something I can see. Machine Head were a massive inspiration to us growing up and we were honoured to be asked to do the tour. We're really excited.”
Sykes went on to tell about how the band, twice voted ‘Worst Band of the Year’ by Kerrang, hadn’t even started writing material for what would be a fourth studio album.
“We don't really write on tour. We don't want any of our records to sound like each other so we'll go home and then sit down and come up with something.”
"When we're writing, we don't really think about how it will be live. We just write and then go with what we have. We don't think about where we'd like to play, I like the fact that we're doing bigger and bigger venues is still a surprise."
Machine Head fans must be confused at how the screamo band were booked to support their favourites, with Bring Me the Horizon appealing more to floppy-haired emo teens rather than the typical metal heads that Machine Head will attract – but the mosh pits will be an interesting scene to say the least.
Machine Head, Bring Me the Horizon, Devil Driver and Darkest Hour will play the following dates in December:
December 3rd - London Wembley Arena
4th - Birmigham National Indoor Arena
5th- Glasgow S.E.CC
6th - Manchester Central
