Japanese Pop Star Revealed As Computer Generated

A new addition to successful Japanese girl band AKB48 has been revealed to be a CGI-based creation. Eguchi Aimi was recently announced as the latest addition to the chart-topping pop act, however fans have been surprised to find out that the popular new member was in fact a composite of the six other band members.

The news was announced in Japan recently via a YouTube video depicting how the CGI member was created. You can view the sensational end to the publicity stunt below.

AKB48 have been performing as an act since 2005, and have gone on to earn eight Number One singles in Japan. The group perform at their own theatre in the Akihabara district of Tokyo, playing to crowds several times each day.

Seemingly not a band for conventions, the band chose to form four separate ‘teams’ of different girls, which has led to the group earning the Guinness World Record for the pop group with the greatest number of members. There are currently 58 members who form the group in total.
