Hollywood film director Martin Scorsese has finished a documentary on George Harrison’s live, and will air the film in October.
The documentary follows Harrison’s life right from the beginning through to his spiral to stardom, showing the highs and lows of the former Beatles guitarist’s career. The film also contains many interviews with friends, family and bandmates, including Eric Clapton and fellow Beatles Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney.
“When I was offered the chance to make this picture, I jumped at it,” admitted Scorsese. “Spending time with Olivia, interviewing so many of George’s closest friends, reviewing all that footage, some of it never seen before, and listening to all of that magnificent music – it was a joy, and an experience I’ll always treasure.”
The documentary will be split into two parts to be shown on October 5th and 6th on HBO, and will be released onto DVD October 10th.
Although Beatles fans will be happy about the new film, the legendary band have unfortunately denied claims of a Beatles reunion at the 2012 Olympics, following a story in the Sun that they would get together for a one-off performance. John Lennon’s son Julian wrote on his Facebook “There will NEVER be a Beatles reunion, because two of the members of the band have since passed… And NO ONE could, or should try to replace them.” – quashing any chances of a special get-together.
