Folk Singer Lisbee Stainton to Release New Album in October

London-based folk singer Lisbee Stainton is to release her third album ‘Go’, the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Girl On An Unmade Bed’, on 3rd October. This will be preceded by a single ‘Wrench’ on 15th August. Stainton is known for her use of an eight-string acoustic guitar and, in 2007, became the first unsigned act to perform at London’s O2 Arena.
23-year-old Stainton grew up in Basingstoke in Hampshire and, after starting to sing from the age of five, began writing her own songs at age nine. She released her debut album ‘Firefly’ in 2006, but didn’t begin to receive any significant widespread recognition until 2009, around the time of the album’s successor ‘Girl On An Unmade Bed’, when several of her songs were playlisted on Tom Robinson’s BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music shows. The album’s lead single ‘Just Like Me’ was later voted Record of the Week on The Radcliffe and Maconie Show.
Last year, Stainton was invited to join Joan Armatrading on her 73-date European tour, which included a date at London’s Royal Albert Hall. During the same year, she was also chosen to appear on the ‘Latest and Greatest Women of Song’ compilation album alongside Katie Melua and Judy Garland. In recent months, Stainton has also supported the likes of Belgian X Factor star Tom Dice, former Squeeze and Mike and the Mechanics singer Paul Carrack and ex-Mavericks frontman Raul Malo. The latter personally invited her to join him onstage for a duet.
