The Killers’ Ronnie Vannucci Jr. Releases Video to New Solo Single – Watch Now

Tuesday, 19 July 2011 Written by Rob Sleigh

Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. has released a video for his new track ‘Replica’, which is the first to be taken from the album ‘Big Talk’. The album was released yesterday and is the debut from his new solo project of the same name. The album features contributions from former Killers touring guitarist Ted Sablay and ex-Weezer bassist Matt Sharp, who also appears in the new video – watch the ‘Replica’ video below.

Vannucci worked on the album with guitarist Taylor Milne during The Killers’ recent hiatus. It was produced by Joe Chicarelli, who has previously worked with The Strokes and My Morning Jacket among others.

The new video for ‘Replica’, which was posted online today by Rolling Stone, was shot in and around LA with director Robert Schober, who has previously worked on videos for Metallica, Deftones and Mastodon. Schober describes the video as “a very conventional story of travel and reconciliation.” Going on to speak about the track, he said: “I've always wanted to make a video that had a more classic feel and ‘Replica’ was the perfect sound for the visuals. You have this beautiful song that just spectacularly unravels in the end into droning distortion.”

Vannucci recently returned to performing with The Killers at Hyde Park’s Hard Rock Calling festival in June, where the band played a new track entitled ‘The Rising Tide’. They are currently working on their fourth album, the follow-up to 2008’s ‘Day & Age’.
