Actor Kevin Spacey Forces Solo Artist to Rename Album

Cassettes Won’t Listen – aka LA-based solo artist Jason Drake –was recently served with a Cease and Desist order by none other than multi Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey, who objected to Drake’s decision to name his new album after the actor. Apparently, Spacey failed to see the funny side when he discovered that the latest Cassettes Won’t Listen album was to be titled ‘KEVINSPACEY’ and abruptly sought legal action. Drake has since renamed the album to ‘EVINSPACEY’ in order to avoid further consequences.

Oddly enough, this is not the first time that Jason Drake has been served with a Cease and Desist order. It previously happened back in 2008, when Cassettes Won’t Listen released a mash-up of Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Chinese Democracy’ with the music of rapper Ludacris. On that occasion, the order was served by the Recording Industry Association of America.

‘EVINSPACEY’ is the third Cassettes Won’t Listen album to date, following 2009’s ‘Into the Hillside’. In addition to his own work, which also included the 2008 debut ‘Small Time Machine’, Drake has remixed tracks for the likes of Midlake, Morcheeba, Daft Punk and Gold Panda.

Watch the video to the track ‘Perfect Day’ from ‘EVINSPACEY’ below. The album is due for release on 15th August.
