Shooting Kills One and Injures Three During George Clinton Set in Ohio

A music fan was killed and three others injured at a free music event in Cleveland, Ohio last night, after a gunman opened fire inside the crowd.

Soul and funk legend George Clinton was performing at the time of the incident, which saw a 16-year old shot at point black range in the head and another fan in the neck. Two more were hit in the leg at the ‘Family Unity in the Park’ event. There have currently been no arrests for the crime, with searches proving unsuccessful, but you would expect there are a large number of witnesses that will help with investigations.

The shooting happened at about 10pm local time at Luke Easter Park, with the villain using a handgun to take pot-shots at terrified music fans, missing many shots but landing four. The shooting started following a huge fight between fans, which led to the assailant pulling out the gun. The three surviving victims, aged 14, 20 and 23 are currently being treated for their injuries in hospital.

Police Sargent Sammy Morris revealed: “It was a large fight. Somebody in the crowd produced a handgun and fired several times.”

George Clinton had been performing with band The Parliament Funkadelic as part of their US tour, which is scheduled to continue despite yesterday’s unfortunate events.
