Olly Murs Discusses Fear Of Being Axed By Syco

Olly Murs has revealed that he fears being dropped by Simon Cowell’s record label Syco. The former ‘X Factor’ contestant has found relative success in the charts with his self-titled debut LP last year, however Murs has claimed that he feels less than secure about his position on the Syco roster.

Speaking to the Daily Star about his chart ambitions, Murs confirmed that he worries his sophomore album will not match the success of his first. He said: "I'm feeling the pressure. The first album went double platinum so I'm scared I'll be up for the chop if the second one doesn't. Anything less wouldn't go down well in Simon's book.”


Meanwhile, Murs was recently confirmed to become the new host of the ‘Xtra Factor’. He continued: "If he notices the album sells one less than last time he'll be wielding his axe. If he gets rid of me off one job, I'll also get axed from the other."

Speaking about how he landed the job, Murs said: "It wasn't a case of, 'Would you like to do the Xtra Factor?', it was more like, 'You're doing it'. I didn't feel like I had any choice because you can't say no to Simon. But after a day or so I realised it was such an amazing job."

Murs will release his new single 'Heart Skips a Beat' on August 2nd. You can view the video for the track below:
