Disturbed to Take Indefinite Hiatus - Frontman Blames Music Industry

Chicago metalheads Disturbed have announced that they are on an indefinite hiatus as of 2011 – and have blamed the ‘collapsing’ music industry for their decision to take a break.

Frontman Dave Draiman recently revealed that the band wouldn’t be embarking on its Music as a Weapon tour, which sees Disturbed playing alongside other nu-metal bands almost every year. He then went on to say that the band wouldn’t be touring for the whole of 2012, saying “This is gonna be the last tour that the American people get to see us in for awhile, if not indefinitely. We have some things going on internally, we have some personal things going on. So I don't know. It's hard to tell.”

But, in a more recent interview, the vocalist told fans that there were no ‘internal’ problems lying within the band, rather an external problem in the form of a failing music industry.

“Many of those reasons are personal reasons, and many of those reasons have to do with the state of the music industry in general and the demise of hard rock and metal right now.

“The industry is still in a state of reformation. It is on the verge of collapse, in my opinion. It's a frightening time, and I think after 10 to 12 years straight of touring it's just a good time for Disturbed to go away for awhile and wait for the Phoenix to rise from the ashes.”

When Disturbed will reunite and tour again is unknown, but the news will come as a reassurance to fans who may have thought that the band had broken up permanently. If you want to keep up-to-date on Disturbed news in future, stay with Stereoboard.com
