Thomas Dolby Returns After 20 Years

Synth pop legend Thomas Dolby has returned after an absence of two decades, with new album 'A Map of the Floating City' set to be released on October 24th. The album will feature guest spots from Mark Knopfler, Regina Spektor and Imogen Heap amongst others.

Dolby’s career stretches back over three decades. In the eighties he released successful singles such as 'She Blinded Me with Science' and 'Hyperactive!' from albums like 'The Golden Age of Wireless' and 'The Flat Earth'. He was nominated for five Grammy awards before retiring from music in the early nineties to devote his time to his own technology company, Beatnik, which created the ringtone synthesizer now embedded in billions of mobile phones.

Having retired from Beatnik, Dolby set about recording a new record and 'A Map of the Floating City' came to being in a renewable energy-powered studio aboard and 1930s lifeboat in the garden of his beach house on the English North Sea coast. Innovative transport game 'The Floating City', based on Dolby’s song catalogue, is proving highly addictive for thousands of players who could win a chance to attend a private concept album of the new album in its entirety.

Dolby will be touring the UK and US in support of the album shortly. 'A Map of the Floating City' will be released on 24th October via Lost Toy People Records. There will be regular and high-res download as well as a standard CD and deluxe edition CD featuring a bonus disc of instrumentals and bonus tracks.
