New Website Setup To Raise Money For Struggling Labels Affected by PIAS Fire

Following the saddening destruction of Sony’s and PIAS’ distribution centre, an online campaign has spawned a new donation service that could help save small labels from extinction.

After the stock of the warehouse was both looted and burnt, there were concerns that some of the smaller labels would simply not survive the loss of cash and would be forced to close down. The Association of Independent Music (AIM) has attempted to rally music fans into buying both digital music online and physical copies from local record shops to attempt to save the potentially dying labels, but even a surge in sales may not be enough to stop them going bust.

So website CognitveDissonanceRecords.com has launched a new project called LabelLove which allows music fans to donate money in the hope the extra cash will keep the small labels, such as Warp Records who represent artists like Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada, alive and kicking for years to come.

Dan Salter, one of the campaign’s organisers, said “We’ve been amazingly inundated with offers of help and support on this idea, and we are going to concentrate on trying to organise a series of live events to help this cause, one of the campaign organisers. Based on the offers we’ve had already, this is looking likely.”

If you’re on Twitter, you can support the cause my following the official Twitter page and using the hashtag #labellove to show your support.
