Toxicology Report States No Drugs Found in Amy Winehouse's Body on Night of Death

The news of Amy Winehouse’s death took an interesting turn today as it was revealed that there were no illegal substances inside her body on the night that she died.

Toxicology reports disproved the commonly-thought theory that Amy had overdosed or accidentally died after taking drugs, after she was found dead in her flat on July 23rd. She had, however, been drinking alcohol, which was present in her system – but it was still unknown whether it caused her death. Her family released a statement addressing the toxicology reports earlier today.

“Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy's system at the time of her death. Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.

“The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October.”

The singer’s cause of death is still undetermined and will face further investigation in the coming months.
