Fountains of Wayne Announce Single UK Show

New York pop group Fountains of Wayne have announced a single show in London’s Scala venue in Kings Cross for this November.

The four-piece band, most famous for their 2003 hit ‘Stacy’s Mom’, had been for the past three years recording and writing their latest album, ‘Sky Full of Holes’. Now, with its release coming earlier this year, the band are ready to hit London once again for the first UK show in a couple of years.

Fountains of Wayne formed in 1996 after Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger met in Williams College. After two studio albums, including an eponymous debut, the band went on hiatus for around two years – before returning bigger and better last time. It was shortly after their reunion that they wrote ‘Stacy’s Mom’, which blasted them into the limelight. Although they haven’t enjoyed quite the same success with their other singles, the band remain a big name in the US power-pop scene.

FOW’s recording career was in doubt after they went a few years with just a live DVD release, and with the band getting on a bit (frontman Chris Collingwood is 43), some may have thought that the end was nigh. But, the FOW are back with a new album and London show to go with it, following three years of acoustic and one-off performances in their native USA.
