The Vaccines and Rizzle Kicks Added to Bristol O2 Academy’s 10th Anniversary Celebrations

The Vaccines, Rizzle Kicks and Radio 1’s Greg James are among the latest additions to Bristol O2 Academy’s 10th anniversary celebrations at the venue’s weekly Friday club night Ramshackle. See below for tickets and details for forthcoming Ramshackle events.

On 23rd September, Plan B’s beatboxer Faith SFX will be kicking-off proceedings with a live performance at the O2 Academy, following recent support slots with the likes of Jay-Z. Brighton-based hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks will be following their recent hit singles ‘Heart Skips a Beat’ with Olly Murs and their own ‘Down with the Trumpets’ with a live set on 7th October, ahead of the release of their debut album ‘Stereo Typical’ later that month.

In November, Bristol O2 Academy will be celebrating the month of its birthday with, among other things, a DJ set by Radio 1’s Greg James on 18th November. Then, on 2nd December, The Vaccines will be following their headlining show at the O2 Academy with a DJ set in Ramshackle.

Bristol Academy first opened on 19th November 2001 with a gig by Ocean Colour Scene and has since played host to over 2,500 events. Speaking about the venue’s upcoming anniversary, general manager Josh Westaway said: “We’ve had so many wonderful gigs at O2 Academy Bristol. It’s impressive to look back and see the wealth of talent, who were once second or third on the bill, and are now selling out their own headline shows. We remember the likes of Arctic Monkeys supporting Maximo Park in 2006, Estelle playing with The Roots in 2004, Devlin and Ed Sheeran with Example in 2010 and Kasabian supporting The Cooper Temple Clause in 2003. The list goes on.”

More DJ sets and live acts are still to be announced for the 10-year anniversary celebrations.
