The Gaslight Anthem Begin Work On “Aggressive” Fourth LP

The Gaslight Anthem have begun work on their fourth studio album, hinting that the new material is taking the band in a “pretty aggressive” direction. Singer Brian Fallon said that the New Jersey band have already recorded ten demos for the follow-up to their successful 2010 LP ‘American Slang’.

Speaking to Billboard.com, Fallon claimed that he was happy with the demos but the band are planning to record extensively until 25 tracks are complete. He said: “We're making demos and our goal is 25 of them, and we've got ten. The songs that are fast, they're a lot faster. It's definitely pretty personal and pretty aggressive right now.”

Fallon went on to discuss his recent LP with side project The Horrible Crowes. Discussing The Horrible Crowes recently-released debut album ‘Elsie’, Fallon claimed that he was able to experiment and diversify his sound to a level that The Gaslight Anthem might not have allowed him.

Speaking to the website, Fallon said: “I needed to write these songs so that I could carry on as a person on my own and function. We wanted to find out what else is there - what else are we capable of.”
