Gruff Rhys To Release New Single With Accompanying Mobile Game

Always one to try out innovative things, former Super Furry Animals front man Gruff Rhys has announced his new single will be released along with an accompanying mobile phone game.
 The double a-side single will be released digitally on 20th October with a limited edition 12” vinyl single to follow on 31st October.
The single is taken from Rhys’ latest album ‘Hotel Shampoo’ which was released along with a video of him building his own hotel shampoo out of hotel freebies he had collected over years of travelling the World. You can see the video below.
‘Space Dust #2’ is a tale of short lived, seminar sparked romance in the form of a duet with El Perro Del Mar while ‘Whale Trail’ will be released with an accompanying iPhone game of the same name.
‘Whale Trail’ is described as a highly addictive game where players will pilot Willow the whale as he flies through a sky collecting colours and points with a voiceover in Welsh spoken by Rhys himself while the song provides the background music.
The app has been designed by Neil McFarland of award winning digital design studio ‘Ustwo’. McFarland has worked with Rhys previously on the artwork for the Furries ‘Juxtaposed With You’ single as well as animating the ‘Rings Around The World’ and ‘Phantom Power’ DVD albums.
Gruff Rhys begins his UK tour in Llandudno on 2nd October and will be supported throughout the tour by ‘Y Niwl’. His latest album ‘Hotel Shampoo’ is out now.
