American rockers Band of Horses have spoken of their disappointment after the Kings of Leon cancelled the tour they were due to support on.
The band had been extremely excited to join the Kings of Leon on stage, but just three shows into the tour, Leon frontman Caleb Followill bizarrely walked off stage – prompting the group to cancel the tour and urge Caleb to attend rehab. While the Kings of Leon can afford to cancel tours as they’re already a big name in rock, Band of Horses have told of the frustration of losing out on dozens of gigs – and how they used the time to record new material.
“‘Exhaustion’, yeah, I think it was the third show into what was supposed to be a seven week show,” said frontman Tyler Ramsay. “It was really, really frustrating and quite maddening. We were in Tampa, Florida and we just sat there for three days wondering what was going to happen.
“Every thirty minutes there would be some weird update about booking shows here or there. We ended up going to El Paso and recording, doing some demo stuff in a studio there. It’s full on for the next record; we’re really trying to get it solidified and get it done.”
