Uh Huh Her Duo Kicked Off Flight After Lesbian Kiss

Indie electro-pop group Uh Huh Her were kicked off a flight in the US after the two female members of the band kissed.
Leisha Hailey and Camila Grey, the group’s lone two members, are a lesbian couple as well as a band and were on a Southwest Airlines flight travelling across the US until they were removed – because their display of affection was labelled ‘excessive’. While the pair claim all they did was simply kiss, airline workers believed that their behaviour was inappropriate – but it seems more like an act of homophobia than an act of censorship.
“We want to make it clear we were not making out or creating any kind of spectacle of ourselves, it was one modest kiss,” said a statement from the duo. “We are responsible adult women who walk through the world with dignity. We were simply being affectionate like any normal couple.
“No matter how quietly homophobia is whispered, it doesn't make it any less loud. You can't whisper hate. We ask this airline to teach their employees to not discriminate against any couple, ever, regardless of their own beliefs.”
