The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn to Release Debut Solo Album in January

Craig Finn, the lead vocalist with Brooklyn-based indie rockers The Hold Steady, has announced the release of his debut solo album ‘Clear Heart Full Eyes’, which is due out on 23rd January 2012. The album is to be preceded by a limited-edition single entitled ‘Honolulu Blues’, which will be released on 28th November.
Speaking about his solo material, Finn said: “I had written a bunch of songs that were outside of the norm for The Hold Steady, a little quieter and perhaps more narrative. I wanted to gain some experience and insight into the process of making a record by working with new people.”
Going on to speak about the album’s title, he added: “It's a juxtaposed reference to 'Friday Night Lights', a TV show that excited and moved me and also happened in Texas. Further, 'Clear Heart' signifies honesty and transparency, and 'Full Eyes' suggests experience.”
‘Clear Heart Full Eyes’ is set to feature a number of special guests including members of White Denim, Phosphorescent, The Heartless Bastards and Centro-matic. Finn is expected to announce a series of live dates to accompany the album’s release soon – check back with Stereoboard for further announcements.
