We Shouldn't Be Big And Famous, Says Kasabian Guitarist

After months of claiming they were underestimated and didn’t receive the credit they deserved, Kasabian guitarist Serge Pizzorno has admitted that he’s unsure as to how the band got so big, because of ‘what they’re into’.

Earlier this month frontman Tom Meighan told the Daily Star that his band didn’t “get the credit we deserve”, with Pizzorno also saying a week later that Kasabian are “built for” festival headline slots. Now the band, who recently released their fourth studio album
‘Velociraptor,’ have admitted they’re not too sure how they got to the stage they’re in now when they were influenced by such weird and odd things.

“With what we're into, we shouldn't really be as big as we are,” Pizzorno told Shortlist. “You shouldn't get big off a concept record about madness where you're dressed as a priest on the cover.”

Continuing in the same interview, the band stressed that they hadn’t ‘replaced’ Oasis following their split and told Shortlist that there were no real similarities between the two bands.

“Maybe we've got the same spirit as them, but we're a different band. They were one-offs. A phenomenon. We're not anything like them. It's an honour [to be compared to them], because Noel and Liam are why we're here, but musically we're nothing like them.”
