Manchester-based veteran rockers The Stone Roses have announced via their Facebook page that they’ve signed two new record deals, guaranteeing their highly-anticipated third album release for the near future.
The band have penned the duo of deals with Universal Records, for the UK and worldwide, and Sony’s Columbia Records have the band in the US. This means that a third studio album could finally be on the way, more than fifteen years after their last LP ‘Second Coming’ hit the shelves. There have been reports that Ian Brown and co. have been recording tracks while rehearsing for next year’s epic come back show.
The two deals will generate immense amount of cash for the four-piece, who’re already set to take in a hefty amount of cash for their live return in 2012, which will see them perform a run of shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park, a number of summer festivals across Europe and an epic world tour.
It is unknown whether the two record deals could result in two separate studio albums for the group, though it is more likely that the two deals simply separate business between the US and the rest of the world.
