Were Black Sabbath Lined-Up For Coachella Headline Slot Before Iommi Cancer Announcement?

Heavy metal legends Black Sabbath may have been in line for a headline slot at the world-famous Coachella Festival before guitarist Tony Iommi was diagnosed with cancer, it has been revealed.
The iconic band have reformed and are working on a new album, as well as announcing a whole range of tour dates and festival appearances. But, the band were knocked back after a Iommi shocked the rock n’ roll world with the announcement that he is in the early stages of lymphoma, a cancer which effects the immune system.
Now it’s emerged that the band were set to be added as a headliner at Coachella Festival – only to be replaced by another act – thought its unknown whether it was The Black Keys, Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg or Radiohead who drafted in as a replacement.
While the illness seems to have affected the band’s potential Coachella slot, it is unknown how it will affect their tour dates – as well as their other festival slots, including Download Festival. We’ll let you know if there are any cancellations, but at the moment, the dates are set to go ahead. Details can be seen below.
The unfortunate announcement that Iommi has cancer was made through the band’s Facebook page earlier in the week, and read: “With the news that Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, his bandmates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time. Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan. The Iron Man of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery.”
