Notorious indie rocker Pete Doherty performed two of his first shows of 2012 over the weekend – and sparked a mad stage-rushing frenzy among fans on the second night.
Playing at Brixton’s Jamm venue, Doherty performed early in the evening on Saturday 21st and then later on at night, smashing through many of his old favourites as well as a small number of new tracks. Though he hasn’t released any albums or singles since 2009, Doherty did hold back on playing more of his new material – and has instead been simply posting demos and unfinished tracks online.
But, despite his lack of new material, Doherty really got the crowd going – so much at the late evening show that dozens of drunk Doherty lovers stormed the stage to get close to the star, fighting security in the process. He really put on a show, and even invited one fan member to play guitar for a song, as well as diving into the crowd – with this move probably not helping the wild crowd calm down.
Among the few new tracks he debuted, Doherty played ‘Farmers Daughter’, and ‘Down for the Outing’ both of which have yet to earn a release. He also opted to perform a different array of tracks at each gig – you can see setlists for both of the shows below, as well as a fan video of him performing ‘Breck Road Lover’ and ‘Arcady’.
