New Blur Album In The Pipeline?

Rumours of a new Blur album have been sparked after William Orbit, a producer who’s worked with the band on numerous occasions, tweeted a message that said he’d be in the studio with Damon Albarn later this week.

Orbit, who produced Blur album ‘13’ as well as remixing some of their tracks, was invited by World Circuit records to attend a show involving one of their artists Fatoumata Diawara. The 55 year-old then replied saying: “@WorldCircuit I would love to come, yes. And I just found out that [Diawara] has done trax w Damon A, who I'm in the studio with from Wednesday! W.”

While this message may have got Blur fan’s hearts racing, there is always the possibility that they could be working on one of Albarn’s numerous side projects, like Gorillaz or Rocketjuice and the Moon – but now, the rumour has been fuelled even further after Orbit was seen messaging original Blur guitarist Graham Coxon about the guitars he had ‘laid down.’Orbit wrote: “Hi Graham! Loving the guitars you laid down! Vocal session March 3!”

‘13’ was the last album to feature Coxon on guitars, and was also an album entirely produced by Orbit. Adding together the recent revelation that bassist Alex James still regularly meets with Coxon, and the fact that they’ll be performing together at the BRIT Awards next month, and you’ve got one strong rumour that suggest a Blur album could well be in the pipeline.
