M. Ward Announces New Album ‘A Wasteland Companion’ & UK Live Dates

Singer-songwriter M. Ward has announced the release of his seventh solo album ‘A Wasteland Companion’, which is due out on 9th April. The new album is the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Hold Time’. M. Ward has also revealed a date at Leicester Square Theatre in London in March and will be joining Feist on her upcoming UK tour – see below for dates.
In addition to his solo work, M. Ward also performs in the supergroup Monsters of Folk with members of Bright Eyes and My Morning Jacket, and is one-half of She & Him alongside actress Zooey Deschanel, star of the US sitcom ‘New Girl’. Deschanel also features on ‘A Wasteland Companion’ with a number of other well-known contributors such as Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, Bright Eyes’ Mike Mogis and PJ Harvey collaborator John Parish.
Speaking about the new album, Ward said: “Between now and when I made ‘Hold Time’ there has been a lot of travelling which requires a lot of reckoning with what to leave behind and what to carry – material and otherwise – and thinking about what I want versus what I need, creatively and otherwise. I wanted to get a reflection of that on the album. It was a process of stripping away my security blanket, which is the same four walls I always record in.”

Tuesday 20 March 2012 – Leicester Square Theatre, London
Sunday 25 March 2012 – Royal Albert Hall, London (with Feist)
Monday 26 March 2012 – Apollo, Manchester (with Feist)
Tuesday 27 March 2012 – Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow (with Feist)
